7 Most Endangered Programme 2027: Call for Nominations opens on 10 September

The Call for Nominations for the 2027 edition of the 7 Most Endangered Programme will open on 10 September 2026, with a submission deadline of 23 October 2026.
Each year, the Programme selects seven heritage sites at risk and brings together heritage and financial expertise, public authorities, owners and custodians, civil society organisations and local communities to help develop viable pathways for their long-term safeguarding.

If you are considering submitting a nomination, we encourage you to start preparing in advance. Developing a strong nomination takes time and relies on early engagement with the people and organisations involved to ensure a viable future of the site.
We recommend preparing the following before the Call opens:
- Identify the key stakeholders connected to the nominated site, including the owner(s) and/or custodian(s), public authorities, local experts and community organisations.
- Start the dialogue early. Wherever possible, inform relevant stakeholders about your intention to nominate the site and discuss opportunities for future collaboration.
- Contact a Europa Nostra Member or Associate Organisation. We recommend getting in touch with the most relevant organisation based on either your country or the type of heritage subject to the nomination. Where available, you may also contact your Europa Nostra Country Representation or one of Europa Nostra Heritage City Hubs for advice and guidance.
- Collect letters of support. These are an essential part of the nomination and demonstrate local awareness and engagement. We strongly encourage obtaining letters from the owner(s) and/or custodian(s) (where possible), local or regional authorities and community organisations.
- Gather supporting documentation, including high-resolution photographs, videos and any other material that illustrates the site’s significance, current challenges and future potential.
- Browse the sites selected in previous editions on our website to gain inspiration and better understand the Programme’s approach and impact.
Who can submit a nomination?
As in recent editions, nominations may be submitted by:
- public or private organisations active in the heritage field, registered in a country that is a member of the Council of Europe, or Kosovo* or
- individual members of such organisations, provided they are permanent residents in a Council of Europe member country, or Kosovo*.
