Another connection - Mediawave

ANOTHER CONNECTION - MEDIAWAVE Film and Music Gathering is 35 years old. We have seen over 40.000 films and hosted thousands of artists from Europe and from hidden parts of the world.
Our event is a free spirit artistic and community-oriented festival. We prefer original views independent of fashion streams reflected in films as well as in music and other arts. We tend to establish real communities and connections by announcing and giving place to different actions.
For the venue in 2025 we chose our word of call to be the 'labyrinth'. The concept of labyrinths and mazes throughout human history stand out as a symbol for the exploring state of of the mind and spirit, it stands out as a search for meanings beyond the mere form by using emotions, logic or the more primal ways of movement or even dance.
This year our screenings will be held at a place called Szigligeti Várudvar, which is about one and half hours of drive from the capital Budapest in the country side, under the majestic ruins of the Castle of Szigliget that stand on a cone shaped volcanic hill. The screening will be complemented by a 4 day long musical gathering and cultural festival that combines performances, gastronomy, fine arts and workshops. The date for this event will be from the 30th of April to the 4th of May 2025.

Rules & Terms
SUBMISSION
Only through FilmFreeway
- Films/projects and all supporting materials should be submitted entirely online.
- All submissions must be submitted via FilmFreeway. We are unable to consider emailed submissions.
- Films from Cuba, Iran and Syria may be submitted free of charge due to the fact that these countries are under financial embargo, and online payments are extremely difficult or impossible.
- We don't offer neither fee nor deadline waivers! Our team unfortunately doesn't have the capacity to answer any emails that request waiver.
- After initial review, shortlisted projects will then be required to submit missing supporting materials directly to Mediawave.

SELECTION
After the submission deadline, the films will be selected by film professionals.
SCREENING AT THE MEDIAWAVE INTERNATIONAL FILM AND MUSIC GATHERING
The winning films in each category will be screened at our Film Festival between 1-4 May in Szigliget. The directors of the selected films will be invited to present their films.
